I haven’t shot a wedding solo yet, that’s why I am very curious to watch the process a solo wedding photographer goes through to obtain that wonderful photograph. Rule no. 1 … wear black. Don’t know why, but it seems it’s de rigeur to wear black when shooting weddings.
I have no clue what the other rules are … I guess you just have to go with your instincts. This guy was really good.
Of course in the first place when shooting should not interfere with others and show respect, hence the color of clothing. Any work or main hobby, must be performed professionally.

There are always so many people by the bean. I am impressed that you found a time when it was pretty empty. Also, I don’t know if this is intentional, but it seems that even some of the people that look like bystanders are able to enhance the photo. For example there is a girl on the left who is “holding up” the bean.
Yup, that’s what I did at the start and even up to now, I usually ask a more experienced friend to be a second shooter and ask him or her to take the formal shots – which we don’t spend much time anyway. We tell our clients that we only will do a few group shots to satisfy family, but mostly, we would do “photojournalism” types of shots. Of course, we also shoot the more formal shots – ie glamour etc.
Hey,
Yep I’m in the same boat – have never done a solo wedding photography session and am nervous about the idea.
I’m sure I’ll be fine when it comes to the technical / creative side of things, but I don’t want to miss any “must have” photos. Will probably tag along with a seasoned wedding pro for a few weekends to get a feel for it.

Nice photo and the creativity of the other photographer is on the really high level. Can you tell us please where we can find this big square mirror thing?
