Going back home to Chicago

While waiting for the train, this photographer was caught taking pictures of the surroundings. Taken somewhere just outside of New York City, a few minutes after the train left Penn Station.

Nine days in New York was enough for me, this time around. But if I get the job that I applied for (the reason why I went in the first place), I will surely go back there and plant my roots.

I went back home taking the train again … I found out that I really like train travel. Amtrak does a good job – their service is excellent and the seats fold out to an almost horizontal position – that you can actually sleep! The train left New York Penn Station at about 4 pm … and got into Chicago at 9 am the next day. You can just sleep the whole time and … wake up refreshed … in Chicago!

Here are some photos that I took along the ride, from just about the beginning to just after midnight when the train hit Cleveland in Ohio.

  1. I’ve always imagined New York to be a city with huge buildings. I know it is exactly that but the picture of the woman taking a picture seems so strange. Perhaps i need to go to New York or i’ll never know what its like there…

Love that first photograph with the lamppost. The exposure and emotion in it comes through surprisingly strongly. Well done!
