Exhibit Past

Another bunch of photographers in action … preparing for an exhibit. This was actually the summer-long “Go Do Good” exhibit of the Chicago Photography Collective that just ended. Currently, the exhibit is called “The Scary Show,” which is basically an adult interpretation of Halloween.
The Chicago Photography Collective Gallery is sponsored by the PopUp Art Loop initiative of the Chicago Loop Alliance. The popup art loop initiative transforms unrented storefronts into art spaces.

Here in Denver there is a program that you can for online. This on is not through the chamber of commerce.
Basically a bunch of store owners and art lovers willing to “GIVE” free wall space for Artists to showcase their work.
Talk about a marvelous idea.

A visitor from your neck of the woods said that this movement started in Newcastle … or perhaps he meant that they have a similar program in Newcastle. You can always write to your local chamber of commerce to suggest a similar program. You can direct them to the popupartloop.com (Pop Up Art Loop Chicago) website as an example.
Using empty store fronts into temporary exhibition spaces – that’s a good idea.
I’m based in Sydney and we often face the problem of expensive exhibition space – will look into whether we have something like this available down under.
