Special coverage: Chicago Marathon throughout the years, Part II, 2006

A great vantage point
This is the second installment of a series of special posts for walkjogrun.net members: LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, 2006. What I remember about that day was … it was freaking cold.
This year, I organized a photo walk with members of the Chicago Flickr Meet Up group. I started VERY early, staked a place right smack in the middle of the Randolph St. bridge over Columbus Drive, stayed there for awhile until the elite runners and the lead packs passed, and then met up with the group at Broadway and Melrose (mile 7) at about 9 am or so.
After about an hour or so, we decided to head to Chinatown to catch the marathon there and then have our lunch. We then headed to the finish line where some of the members of the group had to meet friends of theirs who ran. At this time, the 5:30 finishers were just hitting the tape.
