… for the 8th birthday celebration of my grand nephew, son of my niece who is videographing at the back. Carlo was actually born in Chicago, as my niece was a nurse in Stroger Hospital of Cook County where I also worked. I didn’t even know that she was working there! She was there for about 5 years and I was there for about 3. On my third year, she saw my name in the directory two weeks before moving to Canada. On her last day, we met at the cafeteria. She moved to Canada for good because her husband is based in Toronto.
A few months after our meeting, I got laid off.
Because of the budget crisis or something. They were $500 M in the red, so they had to let go of over 1500 employees. One of the first groups to go was the PhD scientists, the ones that didn’t have anything to do with patient care face to face. Unfortunately, I was one of those
.
But back to Toronto …
One of my first glimpses of the Toronto skyline while driving on the highway on our way to the city yesterday afternoon.
It’s funny, I was settling in last night at the hotel, dropping on my Entrecard contacts of blogs … and what do I see? At least two of the blogs that I regularly drop on … wrote about their trip to Toronto!!!
I will be going around the city today … so I will have a full report tomorrow.
Enjoy your day!
That’s good and bad news you have there. Being laid off but getting to roam the beautiful city of Toronto. Hope you’ll get to shoot the majestic tower of Toronto. And yes, may you be blessed with a better position/occupation out there in Canada. It won’t be long for sure. Good luck!
