More photographs from the lighting/strobist workshop conducted by Flickr and Facebook buddy, Allan Delos Reyes. Learned a lot of basics (you would think I already know how to do this, but I don’t – many of the workshops I have attended on strobes and flashes just went over my head. I always have the default reason when asked – I shoot with ambient light hahahahahah!). It’s a steep learning curve but I have to learn.

Spent half the afternoon photographing plants and flowers at the Garfield Park Conservatory on Earth Day. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one celebrating Earth Day to be one with the flora of the world.

With two other members of the Filipino Flickr group of Chicago, I had a chance to photograph the reenactment of the Via Crucis (the Way of the Cross), Jesus Christ’s last hours – in Pilsen, a predominantly Mexican neighborhood/community in the southwest-side of Chicago. It was a very exhaustive re-enactment – from the last supper to the entombment – and it was also very relevant to modern day issues that the community faces – failed immigration policy of the United States.

I saw them at the Garfield Park Conservatory taking pictures of the pond yesterday. As a tribute to Earth Day, I thought I would take photos of nature, albeit, inside a conservatory yesterday. It was raining cats and dogs, so I went inside. At anyrate, I thought they were a father and son team. But, when the guy in the orange jacket turned around, surprise, surprise, he was my friend John … and the guy beside him had nothing to do with him. Hahahahahah!

Unions showing their muscle in the solidarity march and rally last April 9. The way I understood it, the march(es) came from several points (I photographed the one originating from the Hyatt Regency) then gathered at Daley Plaza for the rally.

It was a huge event – I spent more than 8 gigs of memory photographing the signs and the people.

… idea why it was so foggy yesterday … 2nd day in a row! I was downtown most of the afternoon attending a rally. On the bus, going home, the fog started to thicken (it was already foggy in the morning when I left) – so I started to take pictures while on the bus with my iPhone. Nearing home, I decided to take a walk on the beach and take more pictures. It was eerie and sort of scary at the same time. There were other people on the beach frolicking with their dogs …
