I think they’re having a contest as to who will blink first … . The photographer is one of the members of the Filipino Chicago Flickr group who met last April 30.
Behind the scenes of the lakefront workshop … and then some
More photographs from the lighting/strobist workshop conducted by Flickr and Facebook buddy, Allan Delos Reyes. Learned a lot of basics (you would think I already know how to do this, but I don’t – many of the workshops I have attended on strobes and flashes just went over my head. I always have the default [...]

Earth Blooms
Spent half the afternoon photographing plants and flowers at the Garfield Park Conservatory on Earth Day. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one celebrating Earth Day to be one with the flora of the world.
Good Friday Reenactment in Pilsen – April 24, 2011
With two other members of the Filipino Flickr group of Chicago, I had a chance to photograph the reenactment of the Via Crucis (the Way of the Cross), Jesus Christ’s last hours – in Pilsen, a predominantly Mexican neighborhood/community in the southwest-side of Chicago. It was a very exhaustive re-enactment – from the last supper [...]
Koi
I saw them at the Garfield Park Conservatory taking pictures of the pond yesterday. As a tribute to Earth Day, I thought I would take photos of nature, albeit, inside a conservatory yesterday. It was raining cats and dogs, so I went inside. At anyrate, I thought they were a father and son team. But, [...]
We Are One
Unions showing their muscle in the solidarity march and rally last April 9. The way I understood it, the march(es) came from several points (I photographed the one originating from the Hyatt Regency) then gathered at Daley Plaza for the rally. It was a huge event – I spent more than 8 gigs of memory [...]
Don’t have the foggiest
… idea why it was so foggy yesterday … 2nd day in a row! I was downtown most of the afternoon attending a rally. On the bus, going home, the fog started to thicken (it was already foggy in the morning when I left) – so I started to take pictures while on the bus [...]
Life is good …
Self portrait inside my favorite subject using my favorite lens … what could one ask for more?
Meandering
A friend and I went around the northside of Chicago, without anything in mind except to take photos. He just bought a brand new Nikon D3100 and wanted to test it out. We ended up in Montrose Point where there were other photographers who probably had the same idea as we did. One of the [...]
My world outside today
I was going to go out to photograph today, but I looked out my window … it was still a little bit nasty out there, windy and a little bit chilly. I’ll just wait … I can’t wait. Oh, there’s a fashion photo shoot near the rocks when I took this photo. Here they are [...]
India!
Oliver Teves, my high school buddy who is a reporter for AP visited India for a short while two weeks ago … took these pictures and shared them in our high school Facebook page. He said he didn’t have much time to go around the city, I think he went to Kolkota – so his [...]

Taking picture of a photographer who is taking a picture of another photographer… (Whew!!! That’s a long tag line)
Taking picture of a photographer who is taking a picture of another photographer… (Whew!!! That’s a long tag line), originally uploaded by JJ Cas. From my flickr buddy, John John, who was with me shooting the streets of Chicago during the St. Patrick’s Day celebration last Saturday, March 12.
A great photographing the photographer photograph in New York Times Magazine
The New York Times Magazine (3/6/11) featured this photo of renowned photographer Robert Frank taking a photograph of musician Tom Waits, photographed by Ted Barron, another renowned New York-based photographer specializing in portraiture. This photograph goads me even more to go out there and photograph photographers working on their craft. Great stuff!
Scoping a new gallery space

Solidarity with Wisconsin Rally in Chicago
Several hundreds of Chicagoans/Illinoisians gathered at the Thompson Center on Saturday, Feb. 26 to stand in solidarity with the people of Wisconsin. For weeks, union members and supporters have held a constant vigil in the Wisconsin state capitol protesting a union-busting budget bill that threatens the collective bargaining rights of public employees. Across the nation, [...]
Protest in Madison, Wisconsin
We drove to Madison, Wisconsin last Saturday to photograph the protest (and counter protest) going on in the State Capitol building against Republican Governor Scott Walker’s proposal to strip public sector unions of their collective bargaining right. This anti-union, anti-employee bill that will be voted on today has attracted national interest and is watched closely [...]
The world outside today
It was a beautiful day today, in the 40s (F), sunny … what else can you ask for in February? Naturally, people were out including this photographer who was on the ice shelf on the shores of Lake Michigan. In context, this is how the world outside my window looked just before sunset today:
