Capture my Chicago

iPhone photography at last night’s Capture My Chicago book launching. Twelve of my photos made it to the book!

Here are more pictures from the event -

CBS2 News Anchor Rob Johnson greeting the photographers who attended the event. CBS2 Chicago sponsored the book. You’ve seen Rob Johnson before – here back in 2008 and here when he was still at ABC 7 Chicago.

Rob Johnson again. I am such a fan. :-)

Here he is again talking to the audience … the people at the table to his right are the prize winners in the photo contest.

CBS2 Chicago Meteorologist Steve Baskerville

Except for the contest winners, we were not notified which pictures out of the 28,000 plus submitted made it to the book. It was humbling to find out that I had 12 (!) selected. Here are 11 of them:

Let Me Out of Here!!!

Congratulation that your 12 Photos are selected for the book and by the way the last photo, how did you take that view, is not a Photoshop right?

  4. admin says:

John, no – just by panning. No Photoshop here. I minimally use Photoshop (just for cosmetic repair – dust etc., saturation, straightening of horizon line and sharpening) unless I really want to do funky stuff like HDR, negative etc.

Wow! Wonderful pictures! Especially the one with the ducks – must be my favourite. Clear colors, super-sharp and great composition overall. I’m surprised you didn’t get MORE pics in the book! ;)

Absolutley gorgeous shots! My favorite has to be the motion blur of the birds! I recently came back from Chicago and took some shots out there. Here’s the link to the images. I’m an Orlando Photographer out of Florida but I travel everywhere! Keep up the great work!!

Amazing pictures. I am going to refer this site to my classmates for our photography essay writing task as our reference.

  9. I just love the beach image, it made me laugh! The poor palm trees surrounded by sweaty, greasy lotioned up human beings scratching for space in the sand. The dragon boat image with the woman leaning forward is also a cracking shot, it captures her desire to win and the effort of the team. the ducks are the best though, something so simple, very comedic and actually a lot to look at!

  11. I have never seen so much Gatorade cups on the floor!
