Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt in Hyde Park, New York, ca Summer 2002
I just found these in my archives. Back in August of 2002, we did a road trip to the Berkshires and Upstate New York just to see the home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Hyde Park.

The visit was not complete without also visiting Eleanor Roosevelt’s house … apparently they lived separately.
And of course a visit to the Culinary Institute of America for lunch … but we didn’t have any reservations so we couldn’t get in (apparently you have to reserve months in advance – if you show up without, you just have to hope that a reservation is cancelled). We couldn’t wait so … we went instead to the famous Eveready Diner. It was a great substitute and experience in itself.
The diner is not to be missed.

The Eveready Diner is so American. You would never see architecture like that anywhere else in the world. It is classic, retro sixties design with everything aesthetically right. Clean lines, polished metals, vibrant red, great design and shot!
Thanks to share these wonderful photos.
The photos are wonderful. This is one reason why I admire America. Thank you for sharing it.
I remembered my parents brought me here when I was 7 years old. That was a long time ago, however I can still figure out how beautiful is this place and your photos make them even more beautiful. Thank you.
I hope I will be given a chance to visit this place. I’m here in Los Angeles, CA which is too far from New York. I guess I should plan a visit for this place since its part of my race.
Thank you,
